IMPACT for Kids
The IMPACT for Kids program offers practical safety skills in a fun, age-appropriate environment for 7-10 year-old girls and boys. Kids will learn to:

  • use their voices for protection and draw attention to an unsafe situation
  • use physical skills to get away from someone threatening them
  • remember the details of an altercation
  • tell a safe adult what happened.
State-of-the-Art Self-Defense Training While Earning CEUs!
Are issues of safety entering your workplace?

Is balancing personal safety with professional responsibilities challenging?

Are you looking for a way to address your concerns while earning CEUs?

The IMPACT Chicago Self-Defense Core Program has been approved for 20 CEUs by:
 - National Association of Social Workers (NASW)
 - Illinois Mental Health Counselor Association (IMHCA)

The IMPACT Chicago Self-Defense Core Program emphasizes learning how to:

  • Increase awareness of your surroundings, others, and yourself;
  • Project confidence;
  • Communicate effectively under stress;
  • Harness your feelings;
  • Use physical tools to protect yourself with the least harm to others;
  • Get to safety and get support.
For NASW or IMHCA CEUs, register with IMPACT Chicago 30 days prior to the first day of a course and attend one additional three-hour session led by Margaret Vimont, LCSW and IMPACT Instructor. At this time, there is no additional charge for certification credit or the additional session. You must register 30 days in advance to receive the credit.

To register or for more information, contact Leslie, IMPACT Chicago's Registration and Workshop Director, via phone at 773-338-4545 or via e-mail at Leslie@impactchicago.org.

Why Men Should Encourage Women to Take Self-Defense
We know that women are critical messengers, spreading the word about IMPACT and the import of self-defense training to their female friends, colleagues, and family members. However, to end violence in our communities, it is critical that men also become vocal advocates of self-defense training for women. Three men have offered their personal stories and thoughts on why men should encourage women to take self-defense. We hope that you will read these heartfelt messages and share them with others: Encourage.
