Tell
Just One More Woman
At IMPACT
Chicago, we believe
that our best hope for spreading enthusiasm for and excitement about
IMPACT’s
self-defense programs lies with our graduates. Please take a few
minutes
to talk to a woman in your life—a friend, a coworker, your mother, your
sister—and tell her about your experience with IMPACT. Help us work to
reduce violence one woman at a time!
Post
IMPACT Flyers
Help us spread
the word
about IMPACT in your neighborhood! By posting IMPACT flyers in
bookstores,
cafes, and other businesses in your area, you can help us reach more
women
with information about our self-defense programs. Before posting, in the
white space at the bottom of the flyer, please write in the upcoming
program in the area nearest you. (Note: Please always
ask the business owner for permission before posting a flyer!) To open
a printable copy of the current IMPACT flyer, please click here: IMPACT
flyer.
Note: You
will need Adobe®

Become
a Class Assistant
Class
assistants serve as
an invaluable support for participants in the Core
Program. They help each class run smoothly, handling a variety
of activities both up front and behind the scenes. Class assistants
work
as another set of eyes, ears, and hands for the lead Instructor,
helping
to model the self-defense techniques and providing emotional support to
women as they learn those techniques. Class assistants serve as a
critical
bridge between class participants and the Instructors in terms of
technical
expertise by demonstrating that the skills can be mastered by women
other
than the female Instructor.
Being
a class assistant is also a rewarding experience for the assistant. She
gets the opportunity to participate in the program with a variety of
Instructor
teams, to gain valuable skills with regard to working in teams, and to
keep her skills sharp by participating in muggings during each course
session.
To become a
class assistant,
you must be a Core Program graduate. After completing a short
training
program, you will be mentored in the role by a more experienced
counterpart
until you are comfortable with your duties. Each class assistant is
also
expected to volunteer in other capacities as her time allows.
Grant
Committee
IMPACT
Chicago relies on grants to support many of its activities and new
programs.
We need help in identifying potential funding sources, giving feedback
on grant proposals, and writing grant proposals. If you have any
experience
in this area and would like to help, please let us know!
Share
Your Expertise
If
you have a special interest, skill, or expertise that you would like to
share with IMPACT Chicago, please let us know! We always need help with
marketing, recruitment, fundraising, and graduate outreach, to name
just
a few.
