Lead Instructor Candidate Self-Assessment

Thank you for expressing your interest in being a Lead Instructor with IMPACT Chicago. Dedicated and committed Lead Instructors are key to our mission.

We are appreciative that you are interested in taking on this important role with IMPACT Chicago. We encourage you to assess your strengths and areas for growth and work on areas of growth (if any) before applying. A lead instructor is happy to meet with you to talk through the application process and help you assess ways to work on areas for growth and ways to highlight your strengths.

​Have you completed all the training opportunities available at IMPACT Chicago?
  1. Are you a graduate of the Core Program?
  2. Have you taken all the Advanced Courses?
  3. Have you assisted with at least two Core Programs? 

Have you volunteered for IMPACT?
We are a small organization run primarily by volunteers and part-time employees. We need Lead Instructors who can contribute to the running of the organization.
 
We need Lead Instructors who:
  • Have physical endurance, mobility, fitness, concentration, and focus
  • Have an understanding of sexual assault, violence against women and other populations, and how gender affects sexual assault and self-defense
  • Can occasionally be available during the week, weekday evenings, and weekends
  • Are willing to teach in any neighborhood in Chicago
  • Can commit to at least two years of training and at least another two-three years of teaching*
 
We need Lead Instructors who have significant experience with most of the following:
  • Teaching
  • Facilitating
  • Group leadership
  • Public speaking
  • Counseling or trauma/crisis work
  • Physical activity and generating power
 
 * IMPACT International requires a minimum of 200 training hours for Lead Instructors.
