Statement on COVID-19
IMPACT Chicago Response to Coronavirus, Update: January 9, 2025

We're open for in-person programs! Our 2025 schedule is available here.

We continue to monitor the status of COVID-19 and are keeping a close eye on official information and guidance from the CDC and the City of Chicago. If conditions warrant, safety protocols for both Core Programs and IMPACT for Teens will be relayed to all participants prior to the first day of each program.

We recognize that there are widely different perspectives and behaviors when it comes to taking COVID precautions. For many individuals and communities, COVID risk-reduction continues to be an essential piece of deciding which spaces and activities are accessible.

As part of IMPACT's mission to make our programming accessible to diverse communities, one Core program yearly is designated a masks-required course. Individual masking is always welcome at any of our other programming as well.
2025's masks-required Core Program will be held June 6, 7, & 8.

At this program:
  • All participants and staff will be required to wear masks for the duration of the course; suited instructors will temporarily remove their masks during fights, however, as they cannot be worn safely in combination with the protective helmets
  • Free masks will be available upon arrival each day for participants who do not have their own
  • A Corsi-Rosenthal Box will be running in the space for the duration of the course
  • Depending on space and weather constraints, we will attempt to maximize ventilation through open windows whenever possible (this is subject to the restrictions of the places that we rent from)

Please note that the course still involves very close physical contact, yelling, and prolonged time indoors with a group of 13-20 individuals. Feel free to reach out if you need any additional information to help you in your risk assessment: contact us at [email protected] or send us a message via Facebook  and your inquiry will be routed to the best person to answer your question.
