What is IMPACT?

What is IMPACT is a 2-hour companion program to our Core Program for supporters, prospective students, potential funding organizations, and media to find out more about the IMPACT Chicago Core Program. It is also an opportunity for individuals who have already completed the program to reconnect with their own IMPACT experience and for attendees to offer their encouragement and support by cheering on participants completing their final three scenarios of this  unique personal safety, assertiveness, and self-defense training program.

What to expect
  • First half hour hear:  an IMPACT volunteer, board member, or instructor give an overview of the IMPACT system, including its guiding principles and distinguishing features; a suited instructor offers a behind-the-scenes "look" at the body armor;  and one or more graduates of the program talk about what the course means to them months, weeks, or years after completing the program.
  • The next hour: witness the final three scenarios of the current course and have an opportunity to see for yourself what participants have learned.
  • The final half-hour: hear from two or three participants who have just completed the course and talk one-on-one with instructors and/or individuals who participated in the current program.
